Public Soundsystem 'Rock'
Did you know that the city of The Hague (Den Haag) has its own forest? It‘s called ‚Haagse Bos‘ and is located in the middle of the city! Hosting a lot of different events throughout the year a light and music installation was planned at the ‚Haagse Bos‘ in 2016. The requirement for the installation was the provision of light and sound – the concept of the ‚Rock‘ takes it even one step further! The ‚Rock‘ system consists of three different elements having different functions. The smallest version plays music and guides the visitor through the park to the main music source. The intermediate size plays music and offers space to sit down. Its additional function addresses people having a barbecue or picnic in the park: the intermediate size offers an open storage unit to keep food in a shady place and protected from the sun. The largest size occurs only once in the installation as it represents the main music source. It is located in the middle of the park and invites people to sit, climb and lay on it. The concept for the ‚Rock‘ aroused in a limited time period of two weeks. However all steps of the design process were taken – starting from idea generation and sketching to prototyping and visualization of the final product.
